  • Purchasing diamonds with diamond certificates.

Buying a Quality Diamond can be daunting for anyone who had not got experience in the Jewellery or gem trade. There is a lot to consider with Colour, Clarity, Carat weight and the Quality of Cut to understand before you purchase. In Diamond weight for example, One carat is equal to 0.2 grams, but that does not always relate directly to how someone perceives the size of a diamond to be. The carat weight may be the same in a 1 carat diamond that measures 6.4 mm in diameter or 6.6 mm in diameter as the depth of the stone may be different.

Below is a chart giving you a brief outline of the clarity and colour that is referred to when grading a diamond.

In the end it comes down to personal preference, but one thing you should not have to worry about, is the quality of the certificate you get.

I am happy to purchase Australian or world recognised Certified Diamonds for my customers, to make sure we know exactly what diamond we are purchasing. Australia itself has its own excellent history of world recognised certification.
